Meridian Energy has signed a major partnership with The Christchurch Foundation to invest in regeneration projects across the city.

The Stronger Greener Christchurch partnership will see Meridian work with the foundation on sustainability and energy initiatives to benefit the city and its residents.

Meridian Chief Executive Neal Barclay says the partnership is a long-term commitment to making Christchurch a leader in climate action, and an even stronger community.

“Meridian Energy is a national retailer with Christchurch at our heart. Most of our staff live in the Canterbury region, and in the last few years we’ve moved our office back into the CBD. We’re committed to the intergenerational wellbeing of people that call Christchurch home.

Stronger, Greener Christchurch is about doing our part to help the Christchurch community prosper, be proud and breathe easier,” Barclay says. “We’re looking forward to working with the Christchurch Foundation to identify opportunities to make a positive difference to the city.”

Amy Carter, Chief Executive of the Foundation says project announcements will follow in the coming months. “Meridian is leading the charge toward a zero-carbon future for New Zealand.  This partnership will help put Christchurch at the heart of this transition."

Meridian joins Spark, TSB Bank, Southbase, KPMG, Brannigans and Perception as partners of the Foundation.
